LAUSANNE – This is the week. Only a few more days until Barcraft Switzerland Lausanne #1, the promotion machinery is running. This time not only with forum- and news-spamming on the online community pages, but also appearances on radio shows and printed flyers for the real-worlders – powered by our partner for this event, the Swiss Gamers Network.
Right now, the event on Facebook registers 91 confirmations and 48 who will maybe attend – that is incredible! Chances are, the size of this Barcraft may blow the Zurich-events out of the water. The conditions definitely were in favor of a kick-ass event. When organizing the event in Lausanne, the team could build on the experience of the Zurich organizers, as well as on the promotional skills of our partner, the Swiss Gamers Network.
Now, with the event finally being in sight, it is the turn of the Lausanne organizers Nicolas Meynet, Cyril Dettwiler, Mike Magnin and Sandro Dall’Aglio, to directly address you with their statements.
Cyril: Hi everyone, my name is Cyril, and I study economics in Lausanne. I’m really motivated for this first Barcraft in Lausanne. I began with watching streams in our appartment with my roommates, when we heard about BarCraft and that there was one in Zurich. So we simply found us asking ourselves: “Why not organize a BarCraft in Lausanne ?”.
Nicolas: I’ve been a eSport enthusiast for a long time now. I remember, back in the WarCraft III days, watching pro-replays and attending events such as the ESWC, where I could meet a lot of people sharing the same passion. I always wanted to do something to help eSport being recognized as a real discipline involving - as in traditional sports - passion, fun and dedication. When I learned that some people were organizing a BarCraft in Switzerland, I realized that it would be so cool to build something with them! And finally, today, BarCraft Lausanne #1 is arriving! I really hope that our initiatives will help Switzerland to build a strong and vivid community.
Mike: Hey guys! My name is Mike and I am 25 years old. My foremost motivation for this Barcraft is to gather as much of the StarCraft community as possible in a bar to share some moments of fun. Meet this Sunday May 20th, discuss the imba atmosphere, follow the live matches with a beer in the hand as you usually would for a big football match. If we succeed, I believe it means we have managed to contribute to the advance of Esport in Switzerland. I am very proud of having been able to organize this event in Lausanne! I’m looking forward to seeing all of you!
Sandro: Hi Starcraft 2 enthusiasts ! I’m Sandro, I’m working in a game shop in Nyon and in the Swiss Gamers Network comittee. I was not a big fan of e-sport until Starcraft 2. I’m more a solo or coop player, and I like video games for their new way of storytelling. However, 2 years ago I bought Starcraft 2 and I fell in love with its multiplayer and e-sport community. Last year, with my friends from the Swiss Gamers Network we thought that it was time to organize a Barcraft in Lausanne. We join our force with Barcraft.ch through Nicolas, Mike and Cyril who had the same objective. Today, like force fields and storms to kill marines (My life for Aiur), we collaborate to offer you the best event possible on Sunday 20 May 2012. See you there!
